October 23, 2010

Machi and I drove the two vans to the Oasis to pick up the people to bring to the home for the Olympics. We actually got started on time which is truly amazing here in Peru. We had different events with different age categories such as the long jump, 50 meter dash, 50 meter relay, limbo, knocking off the tin cans with a ball of socks, team spirit, team mascot, team banner, team games such as tug of war, relays, the toddlers had to search in the sand for the most animals they could find, volleyball and soccer. We also had a time where we prayed and worshiped God and I ended up giving a little speech on 1 Chronicles 16:8-10 how we are to give God all the thanks and glory and to share and tell others what God has done for us. We as the Juniper Tree are sharing and celebrating with our fellow christians at the Oasis how God has provided our soccer court for the kids to enjoy. How this project started with prayer, financial support, teams coming to do the hard physical labor and also local help which many of the boys helped. 400 bags of cement went into pouring our soccer court. We ate lunch. We had a snack bar which our teenage girls rotated in and out to work the snack bar throughout the day. At the end of the day we had an awards ceremony and handed out gold and silver medals in the various individual sports and bottles of pop to the team sports and the team who won over all and took home the trophey was the Oasis. Machi and I then went and drove the people back to the Oasis. I, myself didn't get home until around 11pm. God is so good!
